This tour starts in the hilly region of the Algarve - Serra de Monchique where we will stay in a thermal hotel located in a luxuriant valley. You will ride through the mountain to the cosmopolitan city of Lagos. This is one of the oldest towns in the Algarve. We can still see evidence of the wall surrounding the town for protection. You will follow amazing trails along the coast line to Ponta da Piedade where you can find fantastic sceneries of cliffs, caves and rocks with an amazing mixture of colors! From above the sea you will see the small town of Luz where there is a beautiful beach of fine and golden sand where you will stay for the night.
From Luz beach you will follow trails and quiet dirt roads along the South Coast. You will discover the beautiful villages over the sea – Salema and Burgau. You will get to the awesome Baleeira Bay, with an amazing beach of fine sand and five small islands which give this place a unique charm! You will discover the high cliffs of Sagres towards Cape S. Vicente - the place where the land ends and the sea begins! Cape S.Vicente is the south-westernmost point in continental Europe and the place from where our brave forefathers sailed on their caravels seeking new peoples and continents five centuries ago!
Then you will cycle along the Algarve Wild West Coast and discover incredible beaches and stunning wild sceneries. You will spend one night in a recently recovered village full of history and will continue for two days riding over the sea and discovering amazing beaches on this stunning and wild coast.
From Luz beach you will follow trails and quiet dirt roads along the South Coast. You will discover the beautiful villages over the sea – Salema and Burgau. | Day 1 | Arrival – Welcome at Faro/Lisbon airport. Transfer by car to Monchique. Lodging in a 4* hotel with SPA whose recovered old buildings are surrounded by luxurious rain forest. |
| Day 2 | From the mountains to the sea. – 53km (33mi), 930m ascent, level 4. Go up to the the highest village in the Algarve – Monchique. Long ride down the mountain and continue to Lagos, the oldest town on Algarve. This is a day full of single tracks; amazing trails to Ponta da Piedade where you will find fantastic sceneries of cliffs, caves and rocks with an amazing mixture of colors. Continue mostly in single tracks by the sea and get to Luz Beach. Lodging at a 4* Hotel at Luz Beach. |
| Day 3 | The Algarve Limestone Cliffs. – 33km (21mi), 620m ascent, level 2. We begin with a great trail and single track over the sea discovering the beautiful old fishing villages of Burgau and Salema by the sea. Discover some stunning beaches and continue on dirt roads and single tracks within a beautiful and wild scenery. Arriving at beautiful Baleeira Bay with beach. Lodging in a 4* new hotel with swimming-pool, surrounded by stunning deserted beaches and the wild nature of an unforgettable beauty. |
| Day 4 | The Wild Algarve Coast. – 43km (27mi), 580m ascent, level 3. The day starts with a visit to the south-westernmost point of Continental Europe, Cape S Vicente, the place “where the land ends and the sea begins”. Following the Atlantic coast we go up and down visiting splendorous beaches. Lodging in a comfortable BB unit, located in an old village that has been recently and genuinely renovated. |
| Day 5 | The incredible west beaches. – 47km (29mi), 930m ascent, level 4. Ride to the beautiful Amado beach, an amazing surf spot. Follow a track over the sea with incredible views. Ride inland through beautiful valleys and discover the typical village of Bordeira. Next stop is at a beautiful Atlantic beach! Finally visit to the stunning cape at Arrifana village. Lodging at a comfortable BB unit. |
| Day 6 | Odeceixe beach and Village. – 45km (28mi), 620m ascent, Level 3. Ride to the sea and discover the beautiful Monte Clérigo a fisherman's village and beach. Then ride on to Aljezur with its castle on the top dated from the 10th century. Ride to the amazing Amoreira beach and then follow a curious single track close to the water channels. At the end discover the last wild beach of Algarve – Odeceixe! Lodging in an excellent BB with swimming pool at Odeceixe village. |
