    Day 1

    Arrival

Welcome at Lisbon airport. Drive to Fatima and a briefing about your cycling tour in Portugal.

    Day 2

    Towards the Monastery

This is the first day on your bicycle and it is not a difficult day :). You only find a short climb of 2km at km 13, more or less. After this a long descent will come in the Natural Park until the next small town. Control your bicycle because the begining of this descent is -7% of grade. 😉

    Day 3

    Towards the Silver Coast

Another easy day of biking. However, there is some traffic at the beginning of the day. Be careful for the first 13km and always ride in single file. Don’t forget to signal at roundabouts and everything will be fine 🙂
From km 13 onwards, the route is much calmer and more relaxing, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful views of nature, until you reach the cycle paths that take you to the Atlantic coast.

    Day 4

The Most Traditional Beach in Portugal and the Monastery

Another day that isn’t difficult, with plenty of bike paths up to km 25. Here, at Sítio da Nazaré, and on the way to Nazaré beach, you’ll find a very steep descent! Please control your bike speed on this slope. The incline is -10% and it’s 1 km long.
The day is relaxed, so you have enough time to visit another impressive 12th-century Monastery, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take advantage and visit it because it’s worth it.

    Day 5

    The Most-Well Preserved Medieval Town

This is the longest day of your entire trip, and also the most demanding. Now that you’re at sea level, you need to climb. This climb, at km 14, is long and its final stretch (300m long) is steeper (6% of incline), but it’s worth it because the incredible view from the top to the blue ocean is unmissable! 🙂 The climb is 1.6 km long and the average gradient is 4%.
Next, you’ll have a long, calm, and very relaxing descent of 6 km (-3% gradient).
Again, a short 2 km climb at km 24, with a 5% gradient, followed again by a long and relaxing 4 km descent that leads you, once again, to a beach area. You’ve arrived at Óbidos Lagoon, classified as a Nature Reserve.
After that, small climbs and descents will appear until you reach the next hotel.

    Day 6

    Peniche Peninsula

This is the last day of your gravel bike tour. It’s a day with many undulations, but get ready for a stretch with climbs between km 16 and km 20, with an average gradient of 4%. Today you will cycle sometimes on dirt roads, sometimes on paved roads, or on cycle paths, along the Óbidos Lagoon or the beaches of the Atlantic coast.
Pay attention: when you reach km 35 of the day’s ride, you can choose to go straight to the hotel (it’s very close, just go to the roundabout and turn left) or you can choose to cycle another 12 km, which is the perimeter of the Peniche Peninsula, with incredible views of the ocean and the beautiful rock formations, as well as views of the Berlengas islands and their coasts and beaches. The route is easy and worth it. 😉
